Abundant Life –

If you are in the Detroit, Michigan area, I invite you to join me for a three Tuesday series that will start on June 11, 2017 in my backyard entitled, “Abundant Life.” I call the format, “Burgers and Bible.” Jesus Christ directly promises all who believe, “Abundant life.”

John 10: 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. [1]

Think for a moment of the significance of these words of Jesus. The good Lord promises you and me not only “life, but abundantly.” The opposite of life is death. Some people are physically alive, but emotional and spiritually dead. Or, a person might have emotional and spiritual value to their lives, but it is less than optimal. The values and life stream that flows from Jesus Christ will show you how to enjoy life. Jesus taught that the counter force to the life he offers comes in the form of others who, like the thief, want to: steal, kill and destroy.”

I really enjoy the life I am leading. What I am learning about life is that every day is an opportunity. Every day will have its challenges, but with every challenge, opportunities, blessings and joy will come. I ask you to stop for a moment and ask yourself, “Who or what is robbing me of my joy?” and “How can I give myself more completely to the Lord so I might enjoy abundant life?”

Questions for Reflection:

  1. How would you describe “Abundant life”?
  2. What are the road blocks to “Abundant life”?
  3. Are you leading an “Abundant life?”

Prayer: Lord, I pray that you might grant me life, and life abundantly! Grant that every day might be a day of opportunity, a day of challenge, a day of fulfilment. Show me how to make the most out of every minute. Teach me to live life with relationships that are meaningful and purposeful. Grant me joy in the morning and happiness in the evening. Grant me a prosperous life. Grant me a life of love. Bless me, that each waking day might be a testimony to you. Through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior I pray. Amen.
