This morning during worship I had the honor and privilege of christening a little girl who is the daughter of a young woman who I taught for several weeks in a Confirmation of Faith class when she was 12 years of age. Everybody seemed so happy. The little girl seemed oblivious to the spirituality of the moment. After all, she is only around one year old!

As parents and guardians we do our best in the raising of children. Parents, guardians, aunts, uncles and grandparents do the best they can, but what we really want is the blessing of God to help us in the raising of our children.

The Lord does not get bored. The Lord is not focused on money. The Lord does not become tired. The Lord is always on guard to help us raise our children. Bless us and keep us always in your care. Through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we pray. Amen.

Isaiah 54: 13 All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the prosperity of your children. [1]

Questions for Reflection:

  1. What are your thoughts on this passage of scripture?
  2. Have you ever felt that the Lord was helping to raise the children in your life?

Prayer:

Lord, inspire me that I might be an inspiration to the children in my life. Lord, help me to lead children in the way of your righteousness. Lord, bless the children with lives that are emotionally well adjusted, physical and moral strength and a deep understanding of what it means to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Lord, make our children to prosper. Bless each adult to serve as a role model for the children. Where we are weak, Lord, grant us your strength. Lord, when we are confused, grant us clarity. Lord, when we are tired, grant us your energy. Lord, teach the children in the ways of your truth and mercy. Though Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we pray. Amen.
